Fun Fact

Did you know? This summer, the world celebrated 115 years of HVAC technology! On July 17, 1902, Willis Haviland Carrier designed the first modern air-conditioning system, launching an industry that would fundamentally improve the way we live, work and play.

Summer heat is almost over, which means one of two things:

1. If you haven’t checked your HVAC system lately, or had a service provider perform semi-annual maintenance within the last six months, you may want to try the following to ensure your system is properly maintained:

Check and replace your filters- even if your filters don’t look incredibly dirty. Any and all particles that accumulate can impact your systems performance. We recommend checking your filters every 3-6 months.

Inspect the area that surrounds your unit. If it is outside- check and clear things like overgrown plants, debris, yard tools, or any other object that could prevent air from easily flowing through your unit’s condenser. If it is indoors, check the area for any signs of water in the drain pan or biological compounds that may have started to grow in the warm, summer climate.

If you are not already, consider joining our Superior Maintenance Membership plans and let us take care of everything for you. With varying levels of service, our plans are designed around your unique HVAC needs and help to ensure that your system stays stronger, longer.

2. It’s almost time to turn up the heat (indoors, that is). After several months of little to no use, here are a few things to keep in mind as you begin heating your home:

To cut down on costs, ensure your fireplace damper is closed when the fireplace is not in use

Consider turning thermostat down while you’re at work so you’re not paying to warm an empty space

Feel around windows and door seals for air leaks so you can correct any sealing issues and avoid losing warm air throughout the fall/winter months.
